Nichols is in Marion County, and every county only takes its own waste — so Horry County’s landfill and convenience centers will turn you away. The Marion County Landfill on Red Bluff Court in Mullins does not accept household trash, keeps short hours (weekdays 8 AM–4:30 PM with an hour closed for lunch, Saturday 8 AM–noon), and takes cash, check or money order only — no cards. Appliances, scrap metal, electronics and tires go to the Palmetto Hardwood Recycling Center on Senator Gasque Road in Marion. Either way, you lift, load and unload it all yourself.
