Every county only takes its own trash
A Calabash homeowner can’t run a load to the Horry County landfill, and a Myrtle Beach resident can’t use Brunswick County’s sites. You dump in the county the junk came from.
City limits can lock you out
Horry County’s 25 recycling & convenience centers are only for residents of unincorporated Horry County. Live inside Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach, Conway or another town? You’ll need the landfill or your city’s bulk pickup.
There’s a daily volume cap
Horry County convenience centers cap you at 4 cubic yards a day. For scale: one of our trailer loads holds 14.5 cubic yards — more than three days of trips.
Paint & chemicals run on their own schedule
They don’t go in with regular junk, and the hazardous-waste drop-offs keep short hours and monthly limits.
Nobody helps you unload

- Yard waste goes in paper yard bags only.
- Curbside limbs: cut to 4 ft long, no thicker than 4 inches.
- TVs and computers can’t go in the trash — call Solid Waste at (843) 918-2160 or drop them at the Jake Abraham Transfer Station, 3221 Mr. Joe White Ave.
City of North Myrtle Beach residents
- Bulk pickup for furniture and appliances is by request — call Sanitation at (843) 280-5500 before setting anything at the street.
- The city won’t take construction debris, dirt, rocks, paint, hazardous material, land-clearing debris or automotive waste — that goes to the landfill.

Brunswick County convenience centers

Monday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday, 8 AM–6 PM. Residential waste from Brunswick County only. They charge by the bag or load, priced on a standard-size pickup — anything bigger gets sent to the landfill in Bolivia.
Brunswick County Landfill (C&D / transfer station)
Mon–Fri 7:30 AM–5 PM · Sat 7:30 AM–3 PM
Brunswick County waste only, charged by the ton. Cards accepted (2.6% fee, no AmEx). From Calabash or Sunset Beach, that’s a long haul up to Bolivia and back.
North Carolina disposal bans
North Carolina bans a long list of items from its landfills — electronics among them. Check before you load, or they’ll send it back home with you.

- Seven staffed centers across the county for residential waste.
- Attendants won’t help you unload — bring a second person for anything heavy.
- Tables and entertainment centers must be taken apart first.
- No cabinets at any recycling center — those go to the transfer station.
